Aphra Brandreth is the Conservative Member of Parliament for Chester South and Eddisbury. First elected in 2024, she is committed to delivering for local communities, supporting businesses, and championing opportunities for young people.

Before entering Parliament, Aphra worked as an Economic Adviser at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, focusing on environmental policy and sustainability. She later co-founded a successful family-run veterinary business with her husband.

Aphra has experience in local government, having previously served as a councillor, and brings a strong understanding of how national decisions impact local communities. She is passionate about improving road safety, supporting farmers, and strengthening mental health provision in rural areas.

In Parliament, Aphra serves as Parliamentary Private Secretary in the Shadow Defra team and as a Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, where she contributes to scrutiny of the UK’s foreign policy, international relations, and global security issues. She is also active in several All-Party Parliamentary Groups, including as Vice Chair of the APPGs on Motor Neurone Disease, and Rural Business, Co-Chair of the APPG on Transport Safety, and Officer of the APPG on Women and Enterprise.

Aphra and her husband both have deep roots in Chester and are proud to call it home. She spent her formative years here as a teenager and is the daughter of broadcaster and former City of Chester MP, Gyles Brandreth. Today, she lives locally with her husband and their three children.
