MP for Chester South and Eddisbury, Aphra Brandreth, has marked Back British Farming Day, paying tribute to the vital role that farmers play in Cheshire and across the country.

Across Chester South and Eddisbury, and across the country, farmers put food on our tables, drive the rural economy, and care for the landscapes we all cherish. Their hard work and resilience are something to be proud of every single day.

In her message celebrating the day, Aphra Brandreth highlighted both the importance of celebrating farming and the need to address the challenges that farmers face. She raised concerns about the Government’s family farm tax, warning that it would add to the pressures on family-run farms and threaten the nation’s food security.

Aphra reaffirmed her commitment to standing with the farming community against decisions she described as “shameful” for their impact on livelihoods.

But she also stressed that Back British Farming Day is, above all, about gratitude. She paid tribute to farmers for everything they do and pledged to continue standing up for them, not just today, but every day, because, as she said, backing British farming means backing our communities, our countryside, and our future.
