  • Speeches in Parliament

Aphra Brandreth, Member of Parliament for Chester South and Eddisbury, has spoken up for farmers in a Delegated Legislation Committee on Delinked Agriculture Payments.

Aphra spoke about the impact of the Government's policy choice to suspend applications to Sustainable Farming Incentive schemes (SFIs) that only compounds the detrimental consequences of other decisions such as changes to Agricultural Property Relief. She warned the Minister of the impact on food security and the sustainability and viability of family farms in Chester South and Eddisbury and across the country.

Concluding her remarks, Aphra called on the Minister to consider the real people behind the decision his Department was taking. Aphra has been outspoken on the need to support the rural community, particularly on mental health, and stressed that these decisions to continue Labour's relentless attack on farming in the UK have real life impact.
