Aphra with pharmacist from Holmes Pharmacy

Aphra visited one of our fantastic local, independent pharmacies today. Meeting with pharmacist Kenny, who has been running Holmes Pharmacy in Kelsall for the past 12 years. They discussed the roll out of Pharmacy First which allows you to get health advice and treatments direct from your Pharmacist for seven common conditions:

Sinusitis

Sore throat

Earache

Infected insect bite

Impetigo (a bacterial skin infection)

Shingles

Uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women.

Aphra said: "It was great to hear about Kenny’s experience of offering Pharmacy First services, as well as discussing how we can work together with doctors and patients to make the pathway to getting the right treatment as easy and smooth as possible."

They were joined by Adam from community pharmacy England who highlighted some of the challenges facing pharmacies around funding and recruitment, and how important they are to local primary care healthcare. Aphra is committed to making healthcare more accessible across Chester South and Eddisbury.
