Aphra Brandreth with the Police Safety Bus

Hearing about the initiatives that Cheshire police are taking to address violence against women and girls, and keep our streets safe, Aphra Brandreth was shown one of the Safety Buses which provide a safe space for those out at night in areas with a busy night time economy. Safer Streets is an extensive initiative that sees Cheshire Police ramping up its determination to make Cheshire’s streets even safer.

The Safety Buses have on-board safety equipment such as defibrillators, first aid kits, phone chargers and bottles of water. They are staffed by police officers and community safety specialists to ensure that anyone in need of help is cared for until they are able to get home safely.

The safety buses are part of the safer streets initiative, thanks to Cheshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, John Dwyer, who secured £1.5 million of funding from the Government’s Safer Streets Fund.
