"Rising costs are putting local businesses under pressure" warns Aphra Brandreth MP

Aphra Brandreth, MP for Chester South and Eddisbury, highlighted the challenges facing independent businesses after speaking in Parliament about the closure of two well-known Tarporley businesses, The Little Tap and Terrarium.

During her speech, Aphra paid tribute to both businesses and the contribution they made to the local community. Despite attracting customers and working hard to remain viable, both businesses ultimately closed their doors amid rising costs and increasing financial pressures facing many small businesses.

Aphra said their experience reflects concerns she is hearing from business owners across the constituency, with many facing mounting costs and difficult trading conditions.

Independent businesses play a vital role in local high streets, creating jobs, supporting the local economy and helping communities to thrive. Aphra argued that business owners who invest their time, energy and savings into their enterprises deserve greater support to help them succeed.

She also reiterated her support for Conservative proposals to reduce business rates for high street shops, arguing that measures to ease the burden on small businesses would help strengthen town centres and support local economic growth.

Aphra will continue to raise the concerns of local businesses in Parliament and campaign for policies that help high streets flourish.
