Aphra Brandreth welcomes the news that the Stabilisation Works to Hammersmith Bridge are due to commence later this month. This is an important step forwards in the project which will take approximately 9 months. Whilst the work is taking place cyclists and e-scooter users will no longer have access over the main carriageway, but will need to dismount and share the footways with pedestrians. The tow path under the bridge on the Richmond side will remain open.

The contractors have advised that the access over the bridge will only be interrupted for safety reasons when jacking operations are in progress. Advance notification will be given for any such closure.

Barnes Ward Councillor Aphra Brandreth says "This is a great step forwards in the project to restore Hammersmith Bridge, the next important phase will be the strengthening works and I continue to urge the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham to deliver their business case so that local residents can have certainty and clarity over the future of the bridge. The stabilisation works may require bridge access to be closed to pedestrians during some periods of time, I urge Hammersmith and Fulham council to work with residents to minimise any such disruption and to provide as much notice as possible."

Further details can be found in the attached update letter to residents from Hammersmith and Fulham Council.
