MP for Chester South and Eddisbury, Aphra Brandreth, presented a new Bill to Parliament, the UK Food Labelling (Country of Origin) Bill.
It would make sure that food products can only be labelled and sold as British if they genuinely have been made or grown here, rather than simply being assembled or processed here, as current rules can allow.
It's about giving shoppers greater confidence, ensuring transparency and supporting our farmers and food producers by making sure labels mean what they say.
Presentation Bills rarely make the headlines, but they are an important way for MPs to put issues on the political agenda and encourage Government to take a closer look at ideas that could make a real difference.
