Aphra Brandreth, MP for Chester South and Eddisbury, has raised residents’ concerns about postal delays directly with Ministers in Parliament after hearing from many constituents experiencing problems with their post.
In recent weeks, residents from across the constituency have contacted Aphra to report significant delays to deliveries, with some saying they are only receiving post once a week.
One resident in Kelsall told Aphra that after contacting Royal Mail to complain about the lack of deliveries, they were informed that service levels in the area were “good”. Shortly afterwards, however, the resident received a hospital appointment letter after the appointment had already taken place.
Speaking after raising the issue in Parliament, Aphra said the situation was unacceptable and that Royal Mail must meet the standards required under its Universal Service Obligation, which guarantees a reliable postal service across the UK.
Aphra has urged Ministers to ensure Royal Mail is held accountable for the level of service being provided and will continue pressing the Government on the issue.
Residents across Chester South and Eddisbury who have experienced delays to their post are encouraged to contact Aphra’s office to share their experiences here.
