On National Poetry Day, Aphra Brandreth MP is shining a light on Poetry Together, a wonderful initiative that brings schoolchildren and older people together through a shared love of poetry.
Founded by Aphra’s father, Poetry Together encourages younger and older generations to learn and share poems over a cup of tea and a slice of cake, creating opportunities to connect, share stories and build friendships.
Aphra, who shares her father’s love of poetry, hosted an event in Parliament earlier in September to introduce fellow MPs to the initiative and encourage them to celebrate poetry in their own communities.
This National Poetry Day, Aphra is encouraging everyone to share a favourite poem, whether a cherished childhood classic or something newly discovered, and enjoy the simple pleasure of bringing people together through poetry.
