Aphra shares her views on Brexit

I receive lots of emails asking me about my views on Brexit, so I’ve put together a brief summary to set out my thoughts on this big issue.

This has been one of the most significant issues that we have had to face as a country in recent times, it has divided political parties, families and ultimately the country.

My view is that a referendum was held and we must respect the outcome of that vote. People should have faith in our political system and their opportunity to influence society through the power of their vote. If we do not respect this vote, this trust could be broken and our democracy undermined.

I know as a country, that we can have a positive and successful future outside of the EU. Just as there are many positive elements to being in the EU there are many opportunities outside of it. I want to bring people together, look to the future and grasp the opportunities of Brexit, reaching out across the globe and building strong relationships and trade deals globally.

Boris Johnson has done what many people thought was not possible, and renegotiated a better deal with the European Union. This is a good deal which will allow us to move forwards. I support this deal and want to see Parliament end the uncertainty that is impacting the whole country.

It is time for a resolution to this issue so that we can focus on the many important issues including health, education and crime prevention that need our attention.
